Before becoming Next City's editor in 2018, Oscar was a contributing writer and Equitable Cities Fellow for Next City. Since 2011, Oscar has covered stories on topics such as community development finance, community banking, community land trusts, impact investing, equitable and inclusive economies, affordable housing, inclusionary zoning, fair housing, segregation, gentrification, the social safety net and more. He has also previously spoken at gatherings such as SOCAP, the Grounded Solutions Network National Conference, and the Transform Finance Institute for Social Justice Leaders. Oscar has also guest lectured at the CUNY Graduate Center's Urban Studies Program, the Pratt Institute, Georgetown University’s Professional Communications Program, and the Harvard University Graduate School of Design.
Oscar is available to speak on any of the topics he has covered, as well as diversity or representation in the media.
Tony has designed books and other projects for clients such as Thames and Hudson, Powerhouse, Steve Powers, the Pew Foundation, Deloitte and Federal Express. In 2005, he and Dan Murphy founded the experimental media project Megawords and were awarded the Pew Fellowship in the Arts in 2012.
