The Vanguard conference welcomes entrepreneurs, community developers, activists, artists, designers, urban planners and sustainability experts — anyone committed to improving cities. Vanguard is a unique opportunity to meet rising urban leaders working to improve cities across sectors.
Vanguard Greensboro will be held May 11 through May 14, 2020, in Greensboro, North Carolina. Applications open January 9 and will close at midnight Eastern time on February 17, 2020.
The conference is free to attend, but you must apply. The application process is competitive and Next City is only able to select 40 leaders to become Vanguards. We strongly encourage entry and mid-career professionals to apply and there is no age limit. All participants must pay for their own travel and accommodations, however, a travel stipend may be available to some participants. Next City will announce the Vanguard Greensboro class in February 2020. Apply here.
The $25 early bird application deadline is January 24, 2020, at 11:59 p.m. eastern time and the $35 full-price application deadline is February 17, 2020, at 11:59 p.m. eastern time.
