12:00pm - 6:00pm
Following decades of decline, commercial corridors have reclaimed an important role in the revitalization of our cities. Community leaders, policymakers, artists and developers are investing time, energy and money into animating these corridors to again serve their neighborhoods. On Saturday, February 16, urban innovators from cities across the country will convene in Philadelphia for Crafting Corridors: Reinventing the Urban Street – an afternoon salon hosted by Next City and sponsored by the Local Initiatives Support Corporation. Click here to download a PDF of the program, which includes a schedule and details about each presenter!
Join us from 12:00 – 5:00 pm at the Philadelphia Center for Architecture, located at 1218 Arch Street. Registration will open at 11:30 a.m. and the program will kick-off promptly at 12 p.m. and run through 5:00 p.m., followed by a reception until 6:00 p.m. Each speaker will have just ten minutes to pitch their approach to transforming downtown streets into vibrant, liveable corridors. Attendees are also invited to join roundtable discussions, led by select speakers. Be sure to stick around until the reception to enjoy eats, drinks, and conversation.
Can’t make it? Follow @nextcityorg on Twitter for live-tweets throughout the day and use the hashtag #urbanstreet to participate from afar. Check nextcity.org the following week for post-event stories and videos.
This event is made possible by the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC). Next City is grateful to Metropolitan Bakery, the Philadelphia Center for Architecture, and Yards Brewing Company for their generous donations. Be sure to chat with staff from the Philadelphia LISC office during the event — and enjoy the treats and beverages donated by two of Next City’s favorite local businesses.
