Today the Board of Directors would like to share with Next City readers and supporters that Tom Dallessio is leaving Next City, for which he has served as President, CEO and Publisher. During his three-year tenure, Tom provided critically important leadership during Next City’s evolution, which included expanding the organization’s international presence and journalism, strengthening the board and volunteer leadership, and establishing a new editorial team. The board sincerely thanks Tom for his leadership and hard work, and we wish him well in his future endeavors.

For more than 15 years the Next City Board of Directors and staff has worked to realize its mission to inspire social, economic and environmental change in cities through journalism and events around the world. Our stories reach more than 2.5 million readers through our website and influence conversations across the media landscape. Next City’s award-winning journalism and events will continue, including our daily reporting from on-the-ground writers and our annual Vanguard Conference gathering of rising urban leaders.

Over the next few months, we will conduct a search to find a new President, CEO and Publisher. During this transition, our priority is to find the best individual to lead while maintaining a stable and effective organization. We will share the job announcement soon and ask for your help in identifying candidates who can help Next City continue to be a leader in covering and leading the conversations on key urban issues.
