Apply Now for a Plan 2020 Fellowship and Shape the Future of Indianapolis

The stage is set for growth and change in Indy and anyone has the chance to participate in the process.

Indianapolis has been described as “the intersection of access and opportunity,” referencing that the circle of stakeholders influencing the future of the city is open and diverse. People with ideas and passion are rewarded with the opportunity to contribute and influence.

The CityCorps Fellowship is a new program aimed at continuing the legacy of allowing those with ideas, intent and creativity to leave their mark on Indianapolis-Marion County. The CityCorps Fellowship will provide an incredibly unique opportunity for emerging leaders to contribute to Indianapolis’ new Bicentennial plan, Plan 2020.

Indianapolis has always been a city crafted by intent; from the original “Mile Square” plan on which the city was founded, to the “Parks and Boulevards” system plan of noteworthy landscape architect George Kessler, to the “Amateur Sports Capital of the World” strategy that culminated in Indianapolis hosting the 2012 Super Bowl. Fellows will work with Plan 2020 staff and volunteers to help write the next chapter in Indianapolis’ history. The work of the ten selected Fellows will infuse cutting edge ideas, insights, research and best practices which contribute to and advance the five organizing themes of Plan 2020: Choose, Connect, Love, Serve and Work. The CityCorps Fellowship program will allow emerging leaders to add the “nuts and bolts” from their ideas to deliver something that is innovative and also number-crunched-real and ripe for implementation.

Plan 2020 is charged with forging a compelling future for the city as we head into our bicentennial. Plan 2020 will help Indianapolis grow, thrive and compete effectively for future residents. It also defines an entirely new planning philosophy in Indianapolis that meshes community vision, values and strategy with an unprecedented, coordinated update to core city government plans.

The stage is set for growth and change in Indy and anyone has the chance to participate in the process. Interested professionals must submit proposals for the Fellowship by 5:00 EST, July 30, 2014. Up to ten Fellows will be selected and each is eligible for a stipend up to $10,000. Work must be completed by October 31 and presented in Indianapolis on November 12, 2014. Fellows can work from anywhere and will exchange information and build relationships through calls and two on-site meetings in Indianapolis. It is our hope that the Fellows initiate and/or deepen their relationship with Indianapolis.
