In 2009, a Chicago high school made national headlines for a large fight that resulted in the death of 16-year-old Derrion Albert. The violence served as a wakeup call, and the school adopted a restorative justice program. Since then, the dropout rate has shrunk, more students are on track to graduate, and safety has improved.
