Transit geeks, rejoice: Pratt alumni Tiffany Burnette, designer and entrepreneur behind Brooklyn-based Designhype, offers a creative solution to commuting dilemmas with subway maps imprinted on cuffs. Each of the metro bracelets are matte metal and embossed with the subway lines, numbers and streets of either New York, Paris, London or Milan. As Burnette shares, “The idea for the Metro Cuffs began as a simple question; how can I get around the city without looking like a tourist, even if I am one? I designed them around the notion that you can wear a map, look fashionable, and still know where you’re going.”

In a globalized world, with access to Google maps and items like Burnette’s new accessory, it seems that traveling has become more about assimilation and everyday experiences, rather than merely reaching tourist destinations.

Now if you get lost, you can forgo pretending to check texts on your iPhone — everyone knows that’s for tourists — and quite literally know cities like the back of your hand.
