A total of 576 cities nationwide will have mayoral elections this year. During the campaigns, larger cities such as Detroit, Boston, Los Angeles, New York City, Minneapolis and Seattle will put issues like inequality, unwieldy pensions and withering public resources on the table, as mayoral hopefuls debate future action.
