What is the Just City and how do we get there?
These straightforward questions posed to 26 urban thinkers — architects, mayors, artists, community activists, philanthropists, ecologists and urban planners from 22 cities across five continents — opened several months of exploration that culminated today in the publication of our latest free ebook, The Just City Essays: 26 Visions for Urban Equity, Inclusivity and Opportunity.
This ebook is different from others published by Next City in that it was produced in partnership with the J. Max Bond Center on Design for the Just City at the City College of New York and The Nature of Cities, with support from the Ford Foundation and Municipal Art Society of New York. The collaborative nature of this effort is fitting; true change will only come through breaking divisions and working together.
