Next City Invites Urban Leaders to Speak at Habitat III

Next City is seeking proposals for programming to be held at the World Stage by Next City, a pavilion at the United Nations Habitat III Conference in Quito, Ecuador, on Oct. 16-23, 2016. Individuals and organizations are welcome to pitch presentation ideas.

The World Stage will be a publicly accessible space where international experts and urban leaders will be given an opportunity to engage in meaningful dialogue about the UN’s New Urban Agenda. Next City is constructing an exhibition space within the bi-decennial conference on human settlements, and is soliciting presentations, talks and debates on issues to advance the New Urban Agenda around three key themes: Public Life/Design, Opportunity/Equity, and Resilience/Mobility. The World Stage will be open Oct. 15-20.

Interested parties should apply here.

Programming should be lively and engaging, and not exceed 60 minutes. The World Stage will have A/V and the capacity to accommodate 100 participants in flexible, theater-style seating. Videos on related topics are also welcome.

Next City is especially seeking urban change makers that can address opportunities to implement the New Urban Agenda through case studies and other applications.

There is no fee for this opportunity; however, respondents are responsible for their own travel and accommodations. Next City is solely responsible for selecting the organizations or individuals and bears no responsibility for their content.

Those interested in securing a place at the World Stage by Next City should compete this application by 5 p.m. EDT, Aug. 15, 2016. Successful applicants will be notified by Sept. 2, 2016.
