Manifesting a Liberation Economy: Next City’s Solutions of the Year Keynote

Solana Rice, co-founder/co-executive director of Liberation in a Generation, talks about dismantling the Oppression Economy, and the communal work necessary to make the Liberation Economy a reality.

Wednesday, December 1, 2021

1:00pm - 2:00pm

The racism and inequity we see around us has not happened by accident. Workplace inequality, extractive corporate greed, and the systemic oppression that defines our core institutions, chief among them our political structure — these frameworks were designed deliberately, to disempower and marginalize. As we commit to dismantling the oppression economy, we cannot lose sight of what we build toward: our collective liberation, and an economic paradigm that has never before existed in this country. Solana Rice, co-founder and co-executive director of Liberation in a Generation, will discuss why the solutions of the year are really the solutions of our lifetimes, and why it will take the intentional, intersectional work — from all of us, working together — to win a safer, freer future.

Her 20-minute speech will be followed by Q&A moderated by Lucas Grindley, Next City Executive Director.

Solutions of the Year is a multi-day virtual convening, including seven sessions, that will frame the conversation for 2022. You can purchase a single ticket now to all of the events for just $50, or pay what you wish by registering for each event individually. All who donate will receive a copy of our annual Solutions of the Year special issue magazine.
