Community Engaged Design in America

Made with Love

Enterprise Community Partners
Made with Love Book Cover.

In 2013, the Enterprise Rose Architectural Fellowship and the Fetzer Institute partnered to ask how designers can “confront physical brokenness, shape the social and community context, and allow for the emergence of love and forgiveness.” This online publication documents the projects that emerged out of fellows’ collaborations with eight communities, and includes reflections from designers on what worked and what didn’t. The case studies are presented as a series of “recipes,” meant to inspire experimentation in other community contexts. Throughout the case studies, the fellows demonstrate the kind of honest inquiry required to initiate effective work in community engaged design. The publication also includes actual recipes for culinary specialties from each of the collaborating communities.
